Deniliquin Wine District

The Deniliquin Wine District, in the Riverina Wine Region, includses the area around the rural township of Deniliquin, located about 800 km south-west of Sydney. Deniliquin lies on the Edward River, which is a branch of the Murray River and is home to the famous Deniliquin Ute Muster, which attracts more that 5,000 utility drivers to the area in October each year . The area has outstanding natural reserve areas based on the Bramah Forest and other reserves surrounding the many lagoon in there area. Nearby are the twin towns of Echuca–Moama which are renowned for the historic paddlesteamers and remnant of the inland port facilities that showcase the heritage of the area as a thriving port for transporting local produce such as wheat and wool to markets in South Australia. The faithfully restored buildings, tourist facilities, museums, cafes and restaurants make the towns a must do destination for visitors to the area. Some of the local attrctions and activities include: # Enjoying canoeing, kayaking, boating, waterskiing or fishing in the Edward River’s that features sandy riverine beaches and lagoons. # Go bushwalking in Barmah State Forest or along the Long Paddock River Walk, between the the Island Sanctuary and the Peppin Heritage Centre. # The Swan Hill’s Pioneer Settlement # Cruise on a paddle-steamer at Swan Hill or Echuca–Moama # Learning about wool at the Peppin Heritage Centre # Visit the The Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum, Swan Hill. # The Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery.
