Kilmore District

The Kilmore District includes wineries north of Sunbury near Kilmore, Bylands and Willowmavin, in the Sunbury Wine Region north of Melbourne. Kilmore has many delightful historic buildings and it is one of the oldest towns in Victoria. Modern Kilmore has become a far outer suburban alternative residence area for Melbourne and is renowned an important trotting centre and racing. The Kilmore Pacing Cup is Australia’s richest provincial harness race. Some of the local attractions include: Victoria's Tramway Museum where you can take an historic tram ride through the countryside and see an extensive display of cable cars and trams dating back to 1884. Mt William Winery, located to the north-west of Kilmore, specialises in Chardonnay, Pinot noir, and Sparkling Burgundy. There are wonderful grounds with barbecue facilities and a beautiful garden. You can buy their wonderful range of boutiques wines at their cellar door which is open weekends or during the week by prior arrangement.
