Albion Park Wine District

The Albion Park Wine District includes the area south Wollongong, and on the shores of lake Illawarra, includng the towns and villages on the shores of Lake Illawarra, such as Dapto, Albion Park, Windang and Oak Flats, located about 100 km south of Sydney close to the Illawarra Regional Airport. Albion Park has several fabulous museums including the Illawarra Light Railway Museums with a wonderful small diesel and steam powered locomotives and engines that were used in the mining and agricultural industries. The Tongarra Museum has wonderful displays memorabilia, artefacts, photographs, books, historical documents, paintings and sketches. The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society Museum has a number of fully operational restored aircraft, including small historic Cessnas and Tiger Moths. The famous Sydney Microlight Centre, based at the Illawrra airport, offers a wide range of professional pilot training as well as introductory flights. Local attrctions include: # Scenic flights along the coast # The Albion Park Show held in January. # The miniature train ride at Illawarra Light Railway Museum. # Sailing, fishing and boating on Lake Illawarra.
