Shellharbour Wine District

The Shellharbour Wine District is part of the Illawarra Wine Region centred on Shellharbour, Dunmore, Minamurra located about 106 km south of Sydney and just 25 km south of Wollongong. This area is very popular for a wide variety of water sports and has an array of fabulous surfing beaches. There are also many dive and fishing operator charter operators for the excellent diving and offshore fishing available in the area. Bass Point, which is the long peninsula that forms the harbour is a marine aquatic reserve and is a famous spot for both snorkelling and scuba diving. As well as the extensive marine habitats, Bass Point also has a fantastic remnant coastal rainforest and an array of Aboriginal and European heritage sites. Shell harbour and the surrounding district has excellent facilities supporting a wide range of activities, and many great attractions: # Go snorkelling at Bushrangers Bay at Bass Point Reserve. # Bird watching along the walk to Picnic Island # Enjoy a walking tour of the historic buildings and heritage sites, including the Steampacket Inn, dating from 1856. # Join the fun at the Shell Cove Shellharbour City Festival of Sport , held in March. # Shellharbour Village Craft Markets on the second Sunday of each month. # Surfing and diving at Killalea State Recreation Area. # Fabulous rock fishing from the many headlands in the area.
