Kempsey Wine District

The Kempsey Wine District is located in the North Coast Wine Region. It includes wineries located near Kempsey and Crescent Head on the Mid north Coast of New South Wales. Kempsey is an important rural and tourist centre located on the Pacific Highway, about nearly halfway between Sydney and the Queensland border. It is a popular stopping point. Located on the Macleay River it is surrounded by rich and fertile agricultural land, which was primarily used for dairy cattle for over a century. Most of the wineries are located inland.

The North Coast Wine Region is divided into seven districts for mapping and listing purposes: The local wine districts are: Coffs Harbour ; Kempsey ; Nambucca heads ; Bellingen ; Dorrigo ; Orara Valley ; Woolgoolga.

Bago Maze & Winery is a family owned business, with Jim and Kay Mobbs having grown grapes for fine wine production since 1985. Their eldest son Ian is the architect of the Bago Maze, while their daughter Kellie has designed their logo and branding.
