Aldgate Wine District

The Aldgate District includes wineries near Aldgate, Heathfield, Bridgewater, Stirling in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region in South Australia. The rural service town and tourist centre of Aldgate is located 21 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Aldgate is most famous for the Aldgate Pump located across the road from the Aldgate Pump Hotel. The pump was used for watering the bullock teams and horses that journeyed through the area on their way south to the Echunga goldfields. Local attractions include: # Aldgate Pump Hotel that has a fabulous restaurant and a wide range of beers and other beverages.# The Pump and the Corner Store A delightful craft shop that dates back to the early 1880s when it had various roles # Stangate House - an attractive house dating to 1940 , with a lovely garden and a huge historic oak tree.
