Wee Jasper Wine District

The Wee Jasper Wine District is located in the Canberra Wine Region is based on the area surrounding the tiny tourist village of Wee Jasper located in the foothills of the Brindabella Ranges about 55 km south-west of Yass and 330 km south-west of Sydney. The main attractions in the area are the magnificent limestone caves and the fishing and boating activities on nearby Burrinjuck Dam. The seven major Wee Jasper Reserves are a great place for camping, bushwalking and recreation including: canoeing, swimming, fishing and caving can all be enjoyed. The best time for Trout fishing is in spring and summer and native fish are also available in Burrinjuck Dam. Local attractions include: # Carey's Cave which features some spectacular, colourful limestone formations in an array of seven major chambers. There are stalactites, columns, stalagmites, flowstone and helictites. The pathways, chambers and stairways are well-illuminated and various guided tours are available on weekends and public holidays. There are various horse riding options available including mountain horse riding trails. Local horse studs can also be visited. Adventure activities in the area include abseiling, rock climbing and caving.
