Denman - Upper Hunter Wine District

The Denman Wine District is located in the Upper Hunter Valley and is centred on the towns of Denman, Yarrawa, Wybong north West of the regional city of Newcastle. Denman is a thriving country town with an interesting heritage and many historic buildings. The town is surrounded by beautiful bronze-coloured cliffs and is located about 250 km north-west of Sydney. The area has many fabulous vineyards and wineries with cellar doors. A good time to visit the district is in May when the The Upper Hunter Wine and Food Affair is held. This event showcases the best of the district's boutique wines and gourmet foods. The Denman farmers market is held on the first Saturday of the month. Other activities include driving through the stunning Widden Valley, visiting one of the regions famous thoroughbred studs and bushwalking and camping in the stunning wilderness areas in Wollemi National Park and the many other natural areas in the region.

Winemaker Atsuko Radcliffe is the first female winemaker in Japan, and the only Japanese winemaker to establish a wine brand in Australia.
